Every year the FPS (Friese Paarden Stamboek), which is the original Friesian horse association, sends teams of officials to North America to judge the Friesians over here.  Hastings, Michigan was the largest showing of Friesians in North America for the 2000 "keuring" season.  When judged, the horse or foal is assigned a "premie" which is a measure of their conformation and movement.

1st premie: an exceptional rating, it indicates a horse that is deemed to be among the top 5% of the breed.
2nd premie: attained by approximately 35% of the animals presented.
3rd premie: the most common, approximately 50% receive this rating.
no premie: the lowest 10% of the breed receive no premie

If you have any questions concerning the standards of judging, the
FHANA has more extensive information.
